About Dr. Bauer
Travis Bauer, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Trainee (CA Registered Psychological Associate PSB9402681) working under the license and supervision of Nikki Rubin, Psy.D. (CA PSY30047). Dr. Bauer currently provides Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other third wave cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) to adolescents and adults. He received his B.A. from the English Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin and earned both an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the Counseling Psychology program at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Bauer completed his APA-accredited predoctoral internship at UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services, where he specialized in short-term, evidence-based treatments for students struggling with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and trauma. Dr. Bauer has provided clinical services in community mental health, suicide intervention and crisis counseling, school counseling, and university college counseling. He has received professional training in CBT, interpersonal therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and psychodynamic therapy. Dr. Bauer uses an evidenced-based interpersonal style to empower individuals and help them find meaning and hope in their lives as they navigate the complicated and often oppressive systems of our world.
Dr. Bauer has conducted and published research on effective trauma-informed care practices for students and teachers in the classroom, and he has extensive experience in providing instruction in trauma-informed care to education professionals. Dr. Bauer has also participated in research projects investigating effective ways to support educators who have been affected by trauma.
