This course should be essential watching for all folks running (or hoping to run) a private practice. I've been in private practice for some time but I've been looking to make some changes in how it runs (and how I work). I learned so much from this course, including many things I wish I had known earlier on. Dr. Rubin not only breaks down big picture issues like how insurance reimbursements really work and what kind of upfront investment a practice takes, but also provides immediate links for the nitty-gritty details like registration with various agencies so you don't have to try to remember at a later date what you figured out you needed to do. She brings in a lot of therapeutic language to describe common sticking points and she's non-alarmist and non-shaming when pointing out places new clinicians are likely to make mistakes in setting things up. If there are parts of going out on your own that make you feel anxious (like how to raise fees or screen clients), you will find actionable information (including templates and scripts) that will help you confidently take on various parts of the business. 10/10 would recommend.

This course is not only incredibly thorough, walking you through so many aspects and nuances of private practice, it is also very thoughtful. You can sense Dr. Rubin's true care and investment for the well-being of each individual provider as well as our field in general. Dr. Rubin guided me through the process of setting up my private practice 7 years ago. She mentored me through each step from inception to maintenance. She was an invaluable and essential asset in being able to start my own business and ultimately run a practice I love. Her extremely patient and thorough step-by-step guidance in setting up a private practice has also helped many of my colleagues establish thriving businesses that are both manageable and deeply fulfilling. Even 7 years after building my practice, her uniquely efficient course continues to be the only resource I need to maintain the balance, organization, and general manageability for which I’m so grateful. I cannot recommend this course strongly enough.

Dr. Rubin has truly thought of everything. This course walks you through every aspect you need to consider when starting out as a clinician--perhaps most critically, the things most of us would miss if doing it on our own! Beyond that, Dr. Rubin has an amazing knack for simplifying the entire process into steps that actually help you, as the business owner, create a practice (and a life) that works for YOU and your preferences. I honestly wish that I had access to this amazing resource when I was getting ready to open my private practice, and I will be recommending to all of the trainees I know.
